Production of Sustainable Bituminous Mixtures
The manufacture of bituminous mixtures is one of Becsa’s most established business activities. With over 35 years of experience, the company remains at the forefront of the production, research, and development of new asphalt mixes.
Our main areas of focus are centred on reducing the environmental impact associated with our operations, through the use of cleaner energy sources available on the market, such as natural gas, and the implementation of techniques that optimise efficiency and reduce energy consumption across our production processes.
Becsa’s asphalt division operates a large number of asphalt mixing plants, with production capacities ranging from 200 to 260 tonnes per hour. In addition, the company has mobile soil-cement production plants with a capacity of 600 tonnes per hour. Many of these facilities are mobile, enabling on-site production directly within the infrastructure under construction.
Becsa’s Asphalt Laboratory operates along two main lines of activity. On the one hand, it acts as a centre for the design of bituminous mixtures and the validation of materials, ensuring quality, durability, and compliance with technical standards at every stage of production. On the other, it drives innovation and continuous improvement projects, developing new mixes and technical solutions that contribute to the sustainability and resilience of the infrastructure we build and maintain.
We have a highly qualified team with extensive sector experience, supported by facilities equipped with advanced technology that guarantee the quality, reliability, and efficiency of our testing procedures.
The laboratory currently provides services to the eight bituminous mixture production plants operated by Becsa and Durantia. It is fully equipped to carry out the complete characterisation of raw materials (bitumen, aggregates, and additives), as well as the control and testing of the final product.
At Becsa, quality, innovation, and environmental responsibility are fundamental pillars of our activity. Our asphalt mixing plants operate under certified management systems that ensure compliance with the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.
Among the most relevant certifications are ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), as well as CE Marking certificates, which demonstrate compliance with European conformity and performance requirements for our products.
In addition, Becsa holds Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) verified for several of its bituminous mixtures, and was one of the first Spanish companies to obtain verified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results for its asphalt mixes. These EPDs provide transparency regarding the environmental impact of our products throughout their life cycle and reinforce our commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
