Project MACHENSE

EXPLORE

MACHSENSE
Artificial intelligence system for decision-making in the control of diffuse particulate emissions in port environments.

An autonomous system based on low-cost physical sensors located in the emission area of diffuse particles, including the monitoring of meteorological conditions, and virtual sensors based on Machine Learning techniques (soft sensing) in the immission or impact area. This enables real-time monitoring and control, via a digital platform, of diffuse emissions generated by the handling of solid bulk materials (PM10), as well as operational decision-making based on the estimation of the impacts or immission levels caused by these emissions in other areas of the environment, particularly in urban areas. The system reduces the costs associated with a high spatial resolution particle monitoring network and allows for the implementation of predictive techniques.

In this way, the MACHSENSE project aims to develop new products for the port logistics industry based on innovative technologies, artificial intelligence, and low-cost sensing for the control and reduction of the impacts caused by diffuse particulate emissions. These technologies offer high added-value solutions that will enable Port Authorities and companies within the port sector to improve their economic competitiveness while enhancing their eco-efficiency and sustainability performance.

Project funded by the “Ports 4.0” fund of Puertos del Estado.
